Custom software

When the operation no longer fits off-the-shelf software.

Your own system makes sense when the processes that set your business apart start to depend on spreadsheets, side records and the team’s memory. Before building anything, we learn the whole workflow, and we only build what no existing tool already handles well.

When it makes sense

Signs this area would solve something.

Not every operation needs this right now. These are the signs that usually mean it’s worth a closer look.

It makes sense when:

  • An important part of the operation runs on spreadsheets that only one or two people know how to maintain.
  • The current software covers the basics, and the team improvises the rest in side records.
  • The process is specific to the business and part of what makes it different, so no ready-made tool covers it without bending it out of shape.
  • Management needs a consolidated view that is currently put together by hand, one figure at a time.
  • A portal or an internal tool would remove a bottleneck that comes back every day.

In practice

How it shows up in each operation.

Clinics

In mid-sized clinics, the journey of a high-value procedure often goes through quote, approval, preparation and follow-up without anyone seeing every step. A dedicated dashboard can bring that journey into one place, connected to the system the clinic already uses.

Dentistry

In dental clinics, long treatment plans with several stages and professionals are often tracked in side records. An internal tool can organize that tracking without replacing the clinical system.

Companies

In established companies, a critical process such as orders, work orders or approvals often depends on a spreadsheet that has grown beyond what it can handle. Turning it into a system brings access control, history and clear rules, without changing the way the team works.

How we work

Understand first. Then build.

  1. 01

We understand the workflow before designing the screen. We talk to the people who run the process and map where the information goes, including the exceptions nobody wrote down.

  2. 02

We decide what not to build. If an existing tool solves part of the problem, it stays, and the system covers only what is missing.

  3. 03

We build in stages that can be used straight away. The first version tackles the main bottleneck, and the next ones start from real use.

  4. 04

We roll it out with the team. Rollout, integration and usability carry as much weight as development.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions.

When is it worth building instead of buying ready-made software?

When the process is specific to the business, part of what sets it apart, and no tool supports it without forcing the team to work around its limits. If ready-made software does the job well, we recommend it, even when it comes from another vendor.

Does the new system replace what we already use?

Not always. Often the right path is to keep the core system and build what is missing around it, connecting the pieces according to the integration possibilities of each tool.

How much does it cost and how long does it take?

It depends on the scope, and the scope depends on understanding the operation. That is why we have no price list: the project is defined after the diagnosis, once we know what needs to be built and what can stay as it is.

What happens once the system is in use?

The relationship continues. The system evolves with the operation, and every change builds on the context we have already put together, instead of starting from scratch with each new request.

How do we start?

With a conversation about what is happening in the operation. The first conversation is free; the full diagnosis, with the Technology Evolution Map, is a paid service, remote or on-site by arrangement.

Want to know whether this fits your case?

Tell us what is happening in the operation. The first conversation is free and lets us understand the context before proposing any solution.

Shall we understand your operation?

The next step for your technology starts with a conversation.

You know your business, your processes and the challenges you face every day. We can help you understand how technology can respond to those needs.

Tell us what's happening in your operation. We'll talk through the context, identify possibilities and assess how Diagium can help.

You don't need to arrive with a defined solution.

We start by understanding the problem.

We take on a limited number of new projects each quarter.
